While trying to install Office 2010 Pro I receive the following error immediately after running setup.exe «OSETUP.DLL digital signature does not validate or is not present». I have done several internet searches and see this problem has been
around since Office 2007. Apparently tons of people have this problem, but very few resolutions all of which do not work for me. I have tried the following:- Re-downloaded from Microsoft (even tried the x64 version)
- Burned several discs
- Tried in 5 different Computers comprising of Vista, XP, and W7
- Copied files to network and to local PC
- Ran from command prompt
- Ran as local admin
- Created a clean unpatched W7 install — failed
- Created a clean unpatched XP wSP2 install — failed
- Patched clean install of W7 — failed
I have tried downloading the individual apps from our Volume Licensing website to try and pull the osetup.dll from their file set, this also fails. At the moment the only thing I can get to work is Office Standard, trying to pull the osetup.dll from
that file set resolves the error but causes the setup.exe app to immediately crash. I also tried downloading the Office 2010 Pro trial and pull the file from that file set, same crash result not the .dll error. I can install the trial successfully
though. I have tried on PC’s with Office 2003 installed, no Office installed, Office 2007 installed, nothing works. PCs off the domain, on the domain, PCs completely off the network that are fresh installs. Again all same results.Please help as I have run out of ideas. The install log contains the following: (Certain items removed)

Removed hidden text from cut/paste
I have a Windows 7 64-bit machine. I downloaded a (paid, legitimate) copy of Microsoft Office 2010 in ISO format. I followed the directions provided, first using 7-zip to unpack the ISO and then, when that didn’t seem to work, WinRAR. But I kept getting an error message saying «OSETUP.DLL digital signature does not validate or is not present».
I then tried mounting the ISO (using SlySoft Virtual CloneDrive). Everything mounted correctly, but the error message persisted.
I read several help forums and apparently this is a common problem (going back to Office 2007), but none of the recommendations (including from the Microsoft support staff) have worked.
It’s been over an hour and I’m running out of things to try. Any suggestions as to what might be wrong?

Osetup.dll (Office Setup Engine) is an essential part of the Microsoft Office suite. By default, the osetup.dll file is located in a subfolder of c:program files.
In this article, we will discuss a common osetup.dll error that you may encounter while installing Office 2007 or any of its individual products, such as Outlook 2007.

Osetup.dll error
When installing Office 2007, you may receive the following error:

Note: X is a variable and refers to your CD/DVD drive.
Resolution
To resolve the above error, you can use either of the methods discussed in detail below.
Method 1 – Manually Start the Installation
- Click Start and then click Run.
- Next, click the Browse button and navigate to your CD or DVD drive.
- Double-click setup.exe.
Method 2 – Copy the Installation Files to a Network Share
If the computer on which you wish to install Office 2007 is on a network, copy the whole installation directory into a shared folder on the network. Next, on the target computer (PC on which you want to install Office 2007) open the Run box, browse to the network share where you have copied the contents of the CD and double-click the setup.exe.
Method 3 – Copy the Installation Files to your computer’s hard disk
Copy the contents of the Office 2007 CD on your hard disk and replace the non-working osetup.dll file with the osetup.dll file from another Office software on your CD.
