Hello,

I have read FAQ and answers + Network Configuration FAQ and searched for same problems/topics but whatever i tried i just couldn’t get my ftp server listable. I have used FileZilla client before, so this is my 1st time using FileZilla server.

So i will try to keep it as simple as it is.

1- I have downloaded FileZilla_Server-0_9_41.exe, installed as you show tutorial on website.
2- Added a user named kofax, shared my C:test, given all permissions.
3- Turned Off my Nortorn Internet Security
4- Allowed Port 21 on Firewall settings.
5- I don’t know if this is required but i also shared directory C:test within windows folder properties.
6- For Passive mode checked «use custom port range» and entered 50000 — 51000, also checked «Retrieve external IP address from»

7- Tested ftp folder locally and from another laptop in the network
a) Tried to reach this ftp folder from my pc by typing ftp://192.168.***.87/test/ to windows explorer, got an error.
b) Tried to reach this ftp folder from my friend’s laptop by typing ftp://192.168.***.87/test/ to windows explorer, got the same error.

My os is Windows 7 64-bit.

You shared C:test and set it as Home directory. Since FZ Server uses a virtual directory structure, the directory set as Home becomes the virtual root. So a /test directory does not exist, because C:test is the root. In other words, The / directory IS already C:test.

Not required. Don’t leave it open, as it could create an attack vector for intruders.

Correct, but please note you have to forward these ports additionally to 21.

See explanation above, your physical directory structure is not revealed, and the FTP user is locked into C:test as the new root.

I’ trying to display a video that I have stored in an FTP server.

When I open a picture using my FTP address, it display fine, and I can see it.

But when I enter the video link, which is in the same ftp folder, nothing happens. The video exists and I can play it in my computer, but when I try to open it in a browser, using it’s link, it doesn’t show. I downloaded the html5 reader, I support flash … other videos display well, but mine just doesn’t.

When I check the FileZilla Server, I find the following messages :

Getting a «550 CWD failed. : directory not found» on my FTP server

Hello! So a client is trying to upload a lot of images to our ftp. About once every 100 files, he gets the following error. He’s uploading all the images to the same folder, so I don’t understand why this is happened every once in a while. Any ideas?

Я пытаюсь отобразить видео, которое я записал на FTP-сервере.

Не зная видео или браузер, который вы используете, трудно сказать, в чем проблема.

Чтение журнала FTP:

Вероятно, SIZE сначала выдается, чтобы выяснить, действительно ли элемент (ваш предоставленный URI) вообще существует. Сервер ответил успешно, а не с ошибкой.

Затем CWD. Клиент FTP (ваш браузер) просто пытается выяснить, что вы предоставили – URI для файла или каталога. CWD не удался, но SIZE преуспел, поэтому элемент присутствует, а не каталог – это файл.

Затем клиент (браузер) использует RETR для фактического чтения/потока файла.

Вывод:

С точки зрения FTP это выглядит отлично. Проблема может заключаться в том, что браузер, который вы используете, не поддерживает OGG в качестве формата контейнера. Или он поддерживает контейнер OGG, но ни используемый аудио- и/или видеокодек.

Следующие шаги:

Попробуйте поместить видео в свою локальную файловую систему и перейдите к нему, используя file:/// URI. Если видео не загружается, это ошибка браузеров. Если он загружается, поместите видео на HTTP-сервер (веб-сервер) и повторите попытку. HTTP намного проще (с точки зрения сети/брандмауэра), чем FTP.

I just configured Filezilla Server, however I am getting a 550 CWD Failed «/mypath/dir» directory not found.

I have done some reading and this can result in the home directory not being properly configured.

Has anyone dealt with this before?

I have looked at those.
My syntax for the share is correct, and I set filezilla service to run as an administrator account.

Any other thoughts?

Make sure the permissions are correct. I’d suggest adding Everyone with Read/Write permissions on the folder. Then you will know for a fact that anyone can create files in the folder path.

Yeah, post your User or Group config with shared file path, and a screenshot of the actual file path.

So my shared folder for my user is C:inetpubFtprootHPDMRepository
This is also the actual path. It is also set as my home directory.

Are you allowing the high ports 50000-60000 through the firewall. That’s usually a 425 error bit have seen it cause goofy problems

Does the account that Filezilla server is running as have permission to that path?

Yes, it does.
I have set Filezilla service to run under an administrator account with full access to the path.

Is inetpup a typo? It should be inetpub

Also, isn’t /inetpup/ftproot the home directory? Can you CD into /hpdm/Repository/Agents/HPXPe?

So my shared folder for my user is C:inetpubFtprootHPDMRepository
This is also the actual path. It is also set as my home directory.

Yeah, that’s the problem. If your home dir is inetpubFtprootHPDMRepository then you can’t CD into that. In this case, / (the root directory) IS /inetpub/Ftproot/HPDM/Repository.

Can you CD into /Agents/HPXPe?
